Who Serves on the Council
Chaired by the director of the Ohio Department of Development, the Ohio Steel Council is made up of representatives from ten major steel companies in Ohio, the United Steelworkers, the Ohio General Assembly and two state universities.
Representatives of steel companies and labor are appointed by the governor and serve for a three-year term. The Ohio Board of Regents appoints the state university representatives and the speaker of the House and the Senate president appoint representatives of the Ohio General Assembly.
