The Ohio Steel Council is a public-private partnership designed to strengthen ties among the steel industry, the State of Ohio and its citizens.

In this section, we provide journalists with the latest information concerning the Ohio steel industry, including news releases, legislative newsletters, annual reports and data on Ohio steel production, shipping, employment and capital expenditures.

At your request, Council members may be made available for interviews. The Ohio Steel Council can speak to certain issues, including pending legislation, policy questions, workforce development, economic trends and energy costs. Additionally, the Council makes available key economic data gathered from members companies, the state and federal government.

The Council makes a policy of not speaking about individual companies or labor negotiations.

Annual Reports

The Ohio Steel Council is required by law to produce an annual report informing the Ohio General Assembly and other state officials about developments concerning the Ohio steel industry.

Legislating Newsletters

The Ohio Steel Council produces occasional newsletters for state legislators, informing them about the steel industry's position on important and timely issues.

Data Reports

The Ohio Steel Council collects data from members quarterly, including shipments, production, capital expenditures and employment, and makes that data available to the public in aggregate.

Economic Impact

Steel economic impact on Ohio's economy is $7.2 billion. Nearly 100,000 Ohio jobs are linked to steel, with labor income totaling $4.8 billion.
